IMDA - Patriotic Exercises

The Falmouth School Department recognizes the value of patriotic expression and civic education. Thus, the flag of the United States of America shall be flown on school grounds on all school days, weather permitting, and on holidays when appropriate.

In addition, the School Department supports the state requirement to display the flag of the United States of America in classrooms and provide instruction on the flag as a symbol of our nation. To that end, the Superintendent through each building principal will ensure that the flag of the United States of America is appropriately displayed in each classroom. Furthermore, an opportunity must be provided, during the school days for which students are required to attend, for students and staff to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

However, the Falmouth School Department also recognizes the right of students and staff to decline to participate in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. Therefore, no student or staff member shall be required to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
