Music Curriculum and Offerings

Elementary School

Students in Kindergarten through 4th grade attend one 45 minute General Music class during each 5 day rotation. Students explore their singing voices, play classroom percussion instruments and Orff instruments, move to music, read simple rhythmic and melodic notation, and make musical connections.

Chorus (Grades 4 & 5 - no audition required) and Small Group Chorus (Grades 4 & 5 - audition required) practice before school throughout the year to prepare for the Winter Concert, the All Schools Choral Concert (students only and held during the school day), and the Spring concert.

Students in 5th grade have the option of joining the FES Band or continuing with General Music during the Unified Arts block of the regular school day. Band students also have a weekly sectional held before the school day.
