How to Set up Advisor Grading in the Web Gradebook
The screenshots below illustrate how to properly setup grades for advisor. By following this procedure, you shouldn't need to ever manually override your advisor grades.

(Note: Names have been blurred in images, and the quarter is set to Q3, although you may be working within another quarter.)

Step 1: Open the Gradebook and select your advisor group. If you have not previously created an assignment category for Advisor, then click on the "Tools" menu and continue with Step 2. If you have already created an Advisor category, skip to Step 5.

 

Step 2: Click on "Categories".

 

Step 3: Click the + button to create a new category.

 

Step 4: Fill-in the information as shown below. Assignments should be out of just 1 point. When finished, click "Close".

 

Step 5: Now create your assignments. To do so, click on the + button as shown.

 

Step 6: Specify the name and abbreviation for the assignment. Then from the drop-menu, choose "Advisory Grade", enter the date due, and description for the assignment. When finished, click "Save".

 

Step 7: After creating your assignments, you can fill-in grades for each student. Notice that, the quarter grade will either display as a "P" if all assignments have been completed and assigned 1 point; or "INC" if ANY assignment has not been completed and assigned 0 points.
