Articulate specific goals, aligned with the Maine Learning Results, for using advanced technology to improve student academic achievement.

Five major goals emerged from the input provided at the Falmouth Community Dialogue in October 2004:

  1. Establish a culture of wellness that supports the physical, social and emotional well-being of all members of our school community.
  2. Acknowledge and respect the wide range of student ability and offer diverse and appropriate learning opportunities for all.
  3. Remain committed to building a supportive, professional learning community for the teaching staff.
  4. Prioritize organizational needs and reallocate time accordingly.
  5. Recognize and optimize the role of community resources in student learning partnerships.

Specific goals in the technology plan relate to these goals as follows:

  1. Establish a culture of wellness that supports the physical, social and emotional well-being of all members of our school community.
    1. Provide teachers, parents, and students with information on safe Internet practices.
  2. Acknowledge and respect the wide range of student ability and offer diverse and appropriate learning opportunities for all.
    1. Provide students with high quality technology-based student centered learning experiences that would not be possible without technology.

    2. Make informed decisions on the use of curriculum specific technology to support students in meeting standards.

    3. Use technology effectively to support and transform student learning in the research process (framing essential questions, information gathering, synthesis and presentation of information).

    4. Provide teachers and students with access to technologies that support differentiated instruction and universal design in instruction.

    6. Provide students with necessary technology skills so they may use technology successfully to support learning in all areas of the curriculum.

  3. Remain committed to building a supportive, professional learning community for the teaching staff.
    1. Provide ongoing, sustained technology professional development for teachers, administrators, technology staff, school librarians, and support staff.See Section 12 - Professional Development
    2. Provide teachers with the necessary professional development experiences to use technology with students.
