Falmouth School Board Minutes |
Falmouth School Board
Workshop Meeting,
Thursday, October 5, 2006
- The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Falmouth High School ATM room. Present were Chairman Beppie Cerf, Linda Cote, Beth Franklin, Kathy Hillman-Reed, Scott Lydick, Superintendent George Entwistle and approximately 10 others (Farber, Terison out).
- State Legislative Update – Senator Turner and Representatives Brautigam and Davis were in attendance. There was a discussion with questions and answers primarily focused on the topics of TABOR, the Education Committee’s work and the potential impact from upcoming elections.
- World Language Report-out – Catherine Hobby, Sue Leonard and Barbara Powers provided the Board with an update on the curriculum review work both completed and on-going in the content area of World Languages (K-12). Essential (and additional) questions for World Language review were shared and the review process was shared. Ms. Leonard described new World Language software being piloted at Falmouth High School. Mrs. Powers reported out on the World Language consultancy. There are still two essential questions that need to be answered and more work with stakeholders to be done. It is hoped that there will be a comprehensive plan for World Language curriculum improvements at the beginning of 2007 (to be incorporated into the budget process).
Respectfully submitted,
George H. Entwistle 3rd
Secretary
