Falmouth School Board
Workshop Meeting,
Tuesday, September 4, 2007

1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Falmouth High School ATM Room.  Present were Chairman Beppie Cerf, Linda Cote (late), Karen Farber, Beth Franklin, Kathy Hillman-Reed, Scott Lydick, Mark Terison (late), and Superintendent George Entwistle.

2.   Bruce Smith review on budget validation referendum process:  Dr. Entwistle      provided an introductory presentation and overview of the budget development          process and sequence that was used for the previous 3 budgets.  His presentation   emphasized the unique aspects of the Falmouth Public Schools budget development       process (priorities determined by the 18-month plan, new proposal templates,   program evaluation templates, etc.).  Mr. Smith then provided the group with an overview of the provisions of the consolidation law specifically related to the required new budget format and the budget validation procedure.  He entertained questions during his presentation.  There was consensus that a “next step” should derstand the new procedure and to agree on a referendum date.  The School Board will continue to be updated on the progress made by the Board’s Finance Sub-committee.

3.   Adjournment:  The Board adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
