Test Preparation
GOAL: For each
student to determine the script! To know how you will be evaluated before
it happens. To know what will be on the test and the best manner to a. study
for the test, and b. take the test.
STRATEGIES
-
In resource class, do daily listings for one – two minutes
to retrieve previous class information (names, concepts, dates) and make
a list.
-
Use this method at home each night
for each subject (no more than 8 minutes total)
-
Learn language of instruction for the test (what words will
be used, what do those words mean)
-
If possible (and helpful) look at previous exams to see how
the questions may be asked. [If test is a midterm, then review your previous
tests, weekly, to prepare for upcoming test]
-
Study notes on a weekly basis (we will work this into class
over the next several weeks)
-
Make visual cues/ diagrams and /or web to study certain concepts
(categories of words, processes)
-
Remember to use flash cards for definitions (word on one side,
definition on the other). Study front to back and back to front
-
Color code by highlighting on notes
-
Use mnemonics as often as possible
-
Talk-talk-talk about strategies, which work, and which don’t.
