NOTES FROM THE ELEMENTARY PRINCIPALS

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS - Our last day of school for students is on Friday, June 20 due to all five snow days being used this year.

ATTENTION PARENTS-Elementary PTO public meeting-Tuesday, May 13th, from 7-8pm at the Middle School cafeteria! The topic is 4th grade transition! Please come and have a tour of the Middle School. Anyone is welcome to attend!

LUNT NEWS-May 20 is "Toothbrush Tuesday" at Lunt School! Please join in and help our neighbors in need by donating a toothbrush on or before May 20. Toothbrushes will be distributed to families in need by the St. Elizabeth's Essentials Pantry in Portland. Thank you for your help!

LIBRARY NEWS-The White House Teas will soon be here as each fourth grader is busily researching his/her important person. The White House Teas will take place in the library on Thursday, May 29th and Friday, May 30th with the following schedule:

Parents your help is needed! A pink notice went home with each fourth grader last week asking for your help with a planning meeting on THURSDAY, MAY 15TH at 8:30 am, making a tea-style dessert, or serving at the tea. Please fill out the notice and return it to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. Thank you! It is always a memorable event for all.

All library books are due at the end of May. If your child has any overdue books, please encourage your child to return them. Students can still check out books for a few more weeks.

Coming soon to Portland Public Library and Monument Square, Portland: MAINE FESTIVAL OF THE BOOK. For three days, May 15th-18th, over fifty authors will present and sign their books. Come and enjoy readings, discussions, activities, and more for all ages. All events are free except for Opening Night, Thursday, May 15th. CHORUS NOTES- Our final concert of the year is Wednesday, May 28, 7PM at the High School gym. This is our All-School's concert. Please note the rehearsal schedule from now until this concert! We will have regular Tuesday, Wednesday rehearsals until the last two weeks of May. All chorus members will meet on Tuesday, May 20, and Tuesday, May 27 in the Plummer-Motz gym. On Wednesday, May 28 (the day of the concert) our dress rehearsal will take place during the school day so there will be no need to come early that day. A letter will be coming home with details about dress for the concert.
There will be no small group rehearsals until Thursday, May 22. This will be to prepare for a visit to a senior citizens home on June 5.

STUDENT DIRECTORY-Permission/order forms for the 2008-09 student directory have been mailed to the middle school and high school students and sent home with the elementary students. Please fill out and return as soon as possible. Directories may be ordered for $3.00 each. Please remember that each family must complete and submit a new form every year in order to be included in the directory. If you have any questions, email Chantal Walker at jacadiaW@maine.rr.com


FOURTH GRADE FAREWELL-This fun event is fast approaching (June 12) and the Food Committee is looking for donations from parents of the following items for the 4th Grade Farewell: bottled water, small boxes of raisins, hand sanitizer, wipes and sunscreen. Donations can be dropped off in the cardboard box marked FGF located in front of the Plummer-Motz office. Thank you in advance for your donations.

SPRING FAIR- JUNE 7th FROM 10:00-1:00! RAIN OR SHINE! PRE-TICKET SALES for the Spring Fair will end on 5/23! Completed forms and money can be sent to the school in a sealed envelope marked “Spring Fair Ticket Order”.

SPRING FAIR PLANNING MEETINGS! Please come! Bring your children and let them read a book while you attend! The last two Spring Fair planning meetings will be held on Thursday, May 15th and Thursday, May 29th at the Falmouth library from 10-11 am.

YUM! CAKE! Please consider donating a cake for the Cake Walk. Donation forms should be returned to school no later than 5/23. Cakes may be dropped off in the Plummer-Motz gym on Friday, June 6 between 3:00 and 5:30 or on the morning of the fair between 9:00 and 10:00.

WE DESPERATELY NEED VOLUNTEERS! Could you spare 1 hour? Please contact Betsy Perron or any of the PTO officers to say that you can help! We could not have the fair without parent volunteers! Remember, this is for the children!

HELP WANTED! Would you like to help out at the Kindergarten Screening? (May 22 and May 23). This is a very fun way to see the faces of children experiencing something new!!! Please come and help for an hour, either before or after you volunteer in the classroom!
