The intent of the Falmouth Community Resources database is to create a directory of people in our community that are willing to share an area of expertise and/or experience with our school community. Contributers may be parents, teachers, students, alumni, Falmouth residents, or anyone else who has an interest in sharing expertise, experiences, careers, hobbies, and/or skills with the Falmouth school community.
The following are examples of community contributions:
- Presenting to a classroom (K-12 opportunities)
- Serving as a resource for teachers, administrators, and/or support staff
- Serving as a content/subject matter resource expert
- Teaching strategies expertise
- Sharing professional topics (examples might be critical friends, grading
and reporting, differentiated instruction, using assessment to inform
instruction)- Sharing information materials/information from a workshop or conference
- Providing a short 1 to 2 hour job shadow for a high school or a middle school student
- Providing an unpaid internship opportunity for a high school student
- Acting as a expert, perhaps by email, to answer questions student might have in your area of expertise and/or share a career or hobby
- Hooking up with juniors and seniors to discuss a particular college or university
- Participating in special events such as Career Day at the high school
The following are examples of staff contributions:
- Sharing professional learnings from conferences, workshops, web sites
- Sharing teaching strategies
- Sharing your knowledge in a content area
