BIOME COUPLET POETRY

Please enjoy the poetry that the students created after studying biomes. They began with an inkblot representation of a particular biome through the use of colors. Each of these inkblots was unique and represented individual interpretations. These are all on display outside of the classrooms! Please enjoy.

These are the poems from Mrs. Palmer's Homeroom:

Blending in white and black,
To catch its food in a pack,
It runs through the grass,
Nice and fast.

 by Abby

The seal protects itself by blending in,
By using its gray fin,
The seal eats mainly fish,
It catches the fish with a swish.

By Jack

As the Tiger moves along,
The rain forest sings its song,
It has its weapon a deadly bite,
He uses it when he’s in a deadly fight.

The coyote hunts by fighting,
   It uses painful biting,

It grows to be quiet long,
So its sharp claws,
Always catch fish raw.

The mean crocodile lashes like lightening,

for animals in the swamp it’s quite frightening,

it drags them to their death,

when animals go for a drink they never leave.

By Drew

The Grasslands can hold many things,

my animal’s fur is tan,

it lives on green, grassy land.

By Mahayla

In the woods a black bear likes to play,
And it will do it any day,
His fur is thick and soft,
And his cave is his loft.

It eats bugs and many other things,
It slurps up the water with its tongue,

And it likes to wrap itself around a tree rung.

As the Bobcat darts along,
 The desert sings its song,
After the Bobcat kills its prey,
It eats and happily walks away.

When a Gila monster stops for desert air,
All it can do is blankly stare,
As a Gila monster lies in the shaded sand,
It always scans for its prey and it always feels grand,

Animals watch it groove,
Oh so rare,
A mammal with hair,
Glares in the steamy desert air.

And it is very brave,
It won’t attack an ox,
And it is a fox.

The cheetah runs really fast,
You might never see them run past,

My animal lives in grass lots and lots

It stops to do its howling.
You can here it in the distance,
The mysterious noise that glistens.

Its secret is being told,
As the polar bear walks the ice,

The moose wanders on and around,

If you listen you won’t hear a sound,

Except for the moose crunching in leaves,

The leaves that move swiftly with the breeze.

That help it hear when things are near.
When the arctic hare finds its food,
It will change its mood.

He might hear you if you step on a stick,

While the prairie dog walks along,

Just like me,
The water hole is near,

There is a place I call home,
That place is where I Roam.

How Larry Got Fluffy,

a fairy tale

By Peter

Many years ago, in a small village, lived a cat named Larry.  He was a nice young cat but his owner wanted to sell him because he wasn’t soft and fluffy enough.

So, his owner looked and looked until he met a young boy named Peter.  Peter brought Larry home. In order to make Larry fluffier, Peter got a jar of magic fluff and mixed it with some catnip. But, it wasn’t enough.  He mixed the fluff with some fish. But, it wasn’t enough. He mixed it with some cat food. But, it wasn’t enough. He mixed it with some tuna fish juice. But, it wasn’t enough.

One day, Peter went to get the magic fluff jar and have Larry try it plain, but the jar was empty. Peter went to see Larry, and suddenly, he saw that Larry was fluffy! And from that day, Larry has remained fluffy.   The End.

Monster Trucks are Very Fun

By: Peter

Monster trucks can crush a car. They are very strong. They can go through mud, very deep water, and the forests with ten feet of snow, including slush! It takes gas. It has a 2OO gallon tank! It smells so bad because it is a monster truck. Riding in a MONSTER TRUCK is superb!!!
