FALL
FITNESS ACTIVITY

During
the month of October many Lunt staff members participated in the
Fall Fitness activity. The goal of this activity was to promote
a healthy lifestyle and reduce the risk for major chronic diseases
through diet and physical activity. The staff kept a daily log of
their physical activity, fruit and vegetable consumption and water
intake. A point system was established for
each of these categories. Bonus points were earned for weight
loss and group activities. All of the participants paid $1
per week. Handouts were provided for the staff from the publication
Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2005.
At
the end of the month the money was used for a group luncheon. Extra
funds will be donated to a local food bank. Many of the participants
felt that the activity helped them increase physical activity and
improved their fruit, vegetable and water intake. Hopefully
these patterns will continue throughout the holiday season.
If not we will have another Wellness activity in January to help
eliminate the holiday bulge.

MONDAY
SOUP CLUB
The Monday Soup
Club was started in October to promote staff wellness and create
a sense of community amongst staff members. In our very busy schedules,
it is rare that we get the opportunity to sit and enjoy a meal with
friends. On each Monday throughout the year, participants gather
to share homemade soup, conversation and fun. The recipes shared
have been outstanding and we look forward to the coming Mondays
throughout the year!
