One school-wide Caring activity that Lunt School is doing during the months of November and December is a clothes drive.
There are many children in our community, just like you, who need some help. Many of these children came to our country with their families and don't have some of the very imporant things that we all need to keep warm this winter... warm coats, hats, mittens and snow pants. As a school, we are trying to help!
Holly McEwan, Falmouth Schools' service learning coordinator, has reached out to us to partner with the Essential Pantry. The Essential Pantry is a no-barrier program that distributes new and gently used donations of non-food essentials. The pantry specifically distributes those items that are not covered under the federal food stamp program. The pantry serves up to 150 families in need every week, many of whom are immigrants or refugees for whom English is not a primary language.
To do our part to help, Lunt school is asking our families to search through closets for winter clothes that they have outgrown. Students can the brig these items, washed and ready to wear, to school. The are several large boxes, decorated by Lunt students, ready to receive donations. If you have some gently used, outgrown winter clothing that your family would like to donate, please bring it to school by December 22nd. |
