STANDARD ENGLISH CONVENTIONS

Students will write and speak correctly, using conventions of standard and spoken English. Each student will:
1. Demonstrate how language usage may depend on the situation.

2. Demonstrate command of conventions involved in a formal speech, effectively engaging peers during presentation and fielding responses afterwards. Specific lists of these skills appear in the handouts given to freshmen and sophomores.

3. Demonstrate command of conventions in formal written English, e.g. usage, agreement, punctuation, capitalization.
