Hello!  My name is Mrs. Serra, and I am the School Counselor here at Plummer-Motz School.  I have been in this profession over 10 years, and working with children has been a fulfilled dream of mine, and I truly love what I do.  In order for children’s learning to be enhanced, I recognize the importance of them feeling happy and supported during their school day.  My goal is to provide assistance for every child in various ways to ensure that belief.
I see students on a monthly basis through classroom guidance. The topics may vary from 3rd to 4th grade, and some may be similar.  I will do lessons on bullying, being left out, the importance of self-control, and decision-making to name a few.  Students will bring home a parent letter on these lessons to bridge the gap between home and school.  I hope your child will show them to you. You are always welcome to contact me with any cares or concerns regarding the topic chosen.
I will also be doing support through groups (friendship and family change).  Permission slips will go out in the fall and in the spring.  I do my best to be sure everyone is in a group, and if need be, a waiting list will be developed from fall to spring to make that happen.
I meet students individually when the need occurs, this may be through parent contact, teacher referral, or a student advocating for themselves to gain some support through me.  In either case, I am happy to assist in any way possible.
I am also here for parents as well, and will do my best to bring my experience in working with children to you.  If you have any concerns regarding your son/daughter, please feel free to contact me or call to set up an appointment.
I look forward to a great school year!
